Mirror Painted

A number of years ago we purchased an Ethan Allan piece, a buffet, to place along the only solid wall in the living room.  It has been used for storage of dishes and infrequently used household items. After the buffet came into this house, it was needing a bit of something to hang above it. I was on the look-out for a large mirror.  We go shopping occasionally at a large outlet mall about 80 miles away, Prime Outlet, Grove City, Pennsylvania. On a shopping trip there I went into a home decorating store, Kirtland's, and spotted this mirror.  It had a gray background with a golden bronze metallic rubbed over the raised detailing. This piece hung above the buffet for several years.  Coming down the pike, I was wanting a change.  I took it down and spray painted it with Rust-Olem Metallic Oil Rubbed Bronze.  It is an almost black paint with a hint of metallic.  I then used  Amaco's Rub n' Buff, Metallic Paste to spread across the raised detailing. (Buy at Amazon or JoAnn's)  I selected their Pewter colored paste. This stuff when dry it will not come off and it can be 'buffed' to a sheen.

Mirror transformed. Who knows how long I'll live with the silver-ness of this mirror.  For now it will stay as is.

Some furniture seen in this photo has been replaced.  This sofa was removed to a basement room.  The carpeting will be removed to expose red oak hardwood floors. Watch for updates on this room.
